I've always used more than one quart of VC17, James, but can't recall using a full two quarts. It seems to take me somewhat more than an a quart and a half to obtain full coverage so, given the feedback so far, your formula seems to be pretty accurate.

I've never needed more than 1 quart.

James,
I used 2 quarts of VC17 last spring on the bottom of #2032. But I sail in fresh water, so your situation may be different.

We have a few weeks before the Jan 1 Regatta and the Frostbite season here in Austin. I've been cleaning and preparing the hull bottom for painting. Spirit has 3 or 4 coats of VC-17 on her in most places, with some chips and wear zones down to the fiberglass.
I've sanded and faired the hull with a long board. The paint is a little more even on the hull and the orange peel and other rough paint has been reduced with 180 grit. I see now Interlux calls for 300-400 grit. The hull has been rinsed with fresh water and I'm going to lightly rub it down with the paint thinner prior to painting.
Does anyone know how many quarts of VC 17 is required for an existing paint job with some minor bare spots.
I calculate [7 x 23 x 0.85] /84 =1.6 quarts, which seems a little light. A table I found in a distributor says 3 quarts. Any help?
Also any tips?
