Use a grease pencil to write compass headings on your deck or on a clear piece of plastic mounted on the bulkhead.

Put numbered reference scales along the outhaul, jib tracks, trailer, for duplications of settings.

Place telltails about 6" aft of the jib luff. Keep them away from sail seams. To get rid of static - spray yarn telltails with lubricant.

Place tennis balls with small cuts in bow chocks to avoid snags with spinnaker sheets.

Cut line tails short to avoid tangles.

Add a wire "bowsprit" about a foot long to catch and stop the spinnaker sheets from going under the boat.

Copy the code flags (in color) from the US Sailing rule book, place in a ziplock bag and tape to the bulkhead.

Put foam inside the top of the mast to stop rain from dripping into the cabin and creating water damage. The steps on Ensigns have been known to get soft.

if you don't know, cassette tape makes great telltails. Put two on each upper shroud and two more on the backstay.

Mark the spinnaker halyard with a mark matching one on the mast to insure that it is all the way up.

For your outhaul put an eight to one magic box in your boom leading the line through a block by the gooseneck, to the deck and back to a lance cleat. Use very small line (1/8").
