Out sailing yesterday and dropped the clevis pin in my starboard aft sidestay (my fault, the fastener had come out and I stupidly didn't replace it before going out). No damage done, stay came undone, I dropped sails and limped home just not wanting to risk anything, we had a decent wind.
I replaced the clevis and it got me thinking that since I've had my Ensign (only 9 months) I haven't really tuned my standing rigging. I have a Loos tool and have used it on other boats, I just had not gotten around to tuning my Ensign yet. Now that I have reattached the stay I figure now is a good time. I was looking on the forums for tuning recommendations for other Ensigns but didn't see any. I realize that there is a lot of tuning for a specific boat and what you want to get out of it (and how the boat is setup). Are there any baseline recommendations that people have for tensions for an Ensign that is mostly a casual sail with friends type of boat?
