Gin Pole Length
Author Last Post

Old Lightning Class Masts seem to work pretty well too.

Gin poles should be about 19 ft. I use a 9 1/2 collapsable pole so it fits in a truck bed.

I use a gin pole that is 16.5’ long.  It would be better if it were 17.5’ or more.

Keith,

see attached specifications for a gin pole plus an elevation detail drawing I made to illustrate an Ensign Gin pole.

I used a 420 mast, but added approximately 2' with a piece of 4" PVC pipe connected to a wood base.

I will measure the length on my next trip to HYC.

Hi All,

I sold my gin pole along with almost everything else from my deceased 477. Now I find that I need to fabricate one for one of our Parks and Rec boats. I could go out and measure, but I may not have time to do so in the next few days. Can somebody help me out? Guessing a minium of the length of the base of the mast to the spreaders plus about a foot or so.

Thanks!
