Hello Everyone
I'm the new owner/caretaker of Ensign #197. We've asked our boatyard to have all new standing rigging made by our local rigger.
Standard practice would be to measure the existing rigging to determine lengths (allowing for stretch). I thought since the Ensign is a class boat and parts like rigging are standardized, I could supply the rigger with the standard measurements.
But, there is disagreement between the two sources I have found ("1980 Ensign Parts Catalog" here in the ECA Library and the Ensign Spars website which states "Our standard standing rigging is the Pearson design and length"
Does anyone know why the two don't agree and/or have suggestions about what I should tell the rigger?
Thanks in advance!
