I want to convert to mid-boom sheeting. After reading the other threads and comments on mid-boom sheeting, I'd like to propose the solution I've come up with and see if anyone can poke holes in it. I sail solo a lot and also want a set-up that crew can help with.
Assumptions:
For greatest flexibility, I want to use a track on the boom with a rotating block for ease of access from multiple angles.
For safety, I do not want an oxen block.
I want to use existing equipment where possible.
I'd start with a Schafer 2' track on the boom: Schaefer 2 ft by 1 in T-Track Defender PN #608932SIL002
with T-Track Slide (Defender 602656) and End stop (Defender 603241)
Track would be mounted with aft end of track 42 inches from aft end of boom, forward end 66 inches from front of boom.
Next, I'd attach the Harken Mfg # 2615 57 Carbo Air Single Block with Cam to the T-Track Slide.
(Ensign Spars recommends the Harken #2156 40 mm Pivoting Lead Block but it looks like that can't be used with a track...Am I right about that?)
I'd mount my existing fiddle-head block (fiddlehead #1) with Beckett to the aft end of of the boom, where I'd fix the sheet. (see pic attached-- I'd remove the Cam)
The sheet would then run to a Harken 57 mm Carbo Air Fiddle Block Mfg # 2621 (recommended by Ensign Spars https://shop.ensignspars.com/pages/ensign-mainsheet) attached to the traveler.
Back up to Fiddlehead #1, down to Fiddlehead #2, Back to Fiddlehead #1 and out to the boom.
Thoughts?
